I've tried a lot of different professions from Sales Promotion Aide to elementary school teacher to psychiatrist and psychoanalyst (those two stuck). I continue to work part time as a psychiatrist and became a published author of cozy mysteries in 2018 after many years of writing and hundreds of rejections. I write the Ditie Brown Mystery series published by Lyrical Underground and Kensington under the pen name of Sarah Osborne. The third book in the series will be published in May 2020.
I lived in Atlanta for more than thirty years and initially worked as a teacher and then for the Centers for Disease Control in their training division. I went from there to medical school at Emory, initially planning to be an internist. I switched to Psychiatry my second year became a psychoanalyst several years later. I have always loved stories, so it was a natural fit.
I divorced my first husband Jim Shelton, Oberlin grad, before med school, and we remain good friends. He is heavily into politics as am i although he works harder on it than I do.
I found my voice at the age of 70, possibly engendered by a bout with non-Hodgkins lymphoma, which put things in perspective. I'm proud to say I've gotten letters published in the Boston Globe and the New York Times regarding our current president, or as I like to call him, our IP for illegitmate president. I'm also delighted that I'm a published author. I may not get a contract for more Ditie (as in Aphrodite) Brown mysteries, but it has been a fun ride. And I will keep writing regardless.
I feel extremely fortunate that I have been able to live such a full and happy life.
